Class Description

Bellydance Choreography II

Bellydance Choreography II class is where DWJ students learn more challenging dances. Level II dances are longer, technically difficult, and presented at a faster rate. Weekly attendance and rehearsal between classes is necessary in order to truly learn the material and get the most benefit. Before moving on to level II, students must complete (and be able to dance at a proficient level) several level I choreographies. Depending on the dancer, technique classes may also be required. Continuing to take technique classes while taking choreography is strongly recommended and often required at this level. Entrance into the class is by instructor consent, which may require an audition. The class focuses on learning a routine to a particular piece of music and is an excellent introduction to the many styles that make up bellydancing. There is a strong emphasis on styling, prop use, technical detail, and memory retention through rehearsal of numbers from previous sessions. Students are led through a warm-up, strengthening and stretching exercises, combinations which build into the routine, and a cool down. This is a great class for students looking to take their dance to the next level, individuals pursuing bellydance as a serious hobby, and dancers wanting to participate on the Jasmine's Jewels performance team.
